New vpr Matrix PC features DDR 333 Mhz Memory

Third Model Added to New vpr Matrix 220 PC Series; Available Exclusively at Best Buy Stores and BestBuy.com for $1,499.99

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 7, 2002--The new 220 desktop personal computer series by vpr Matrix, Best Buy's private line of PCs, has expanded with the offering of the 7100PE, one of the first computers to include the new Intel® 845PE chipset that features DDR SDRAM running at 333MHz. The enhanced memory capability marks a 25 percent improvement in bandwidth over the current standard PC RAM speed of 266 MHz. The 7100PE will be available exclusively at Best Buy stores and online at Bestbuy.com starting this week, priced at $1,499.99.

The 7100PE was built to handle advanced graphics applications and offer the kind of power that make CD and DVD burning quick and easy. Every 7100PE comes standard with 512MB of DDR 333MHz memory, a 120GB hard drive, six USB 2.0 ports, four open PCI slots, a DVD-RW drive, a DVD-ROM drive, an Intel® Pentium 4® processor running at 2.66GHz and a 64 MB Nvidia GeForce MX420 graphics card.

The 7100PE is the third offering in the 220 series, which debuted with two models at Best Buy on September 29. The 4100, priced at $1099.99, features a 100 GB hard drive, an Intel P4 2.53 processor and a 32 MB Nvidia GeForce MX200. The 6100 adds DVD burning and a 64 MB Nvidia GeForce MX420 graphics card for an additional $200.

Like the 180R-253R models that debuted in July, all vpr Matrix PCs in the 220 series feature the same strikingly angular design by F.A. Porsche, top quality components from established and trusted industry leaders like Western Digital and nVidia, and on-board RAID capabilities that can provide either 35 percent faster data access or instant, worry-free backups when additional hard drives are added.
